PDFs carry a metadata block most people never look at. It commonly includes the author name taken from your operating system account, the software that produced the file, the creation and modification timestamps, and sometimes the full path of the original document on your drive.

That is enough to be awkward. A CV reveals which template you started from and when you last edited it. A contract reveals which party drafted it. A document exported from a work machine can leak an internal folder structure or a colleague's username.
