Free browser-based file tools, and a directory of free APIs.
AIM Free Tools is a collection of 26 file utilities that run entirely inside your web browser using WebAssembly. Your files are never uploaded to a server — the processing happens on your own device, and the file never leaves it.
That matters for anyone handling documents they are not allowed to send to a third party: client contracts, medical scans, ID documents, unreleased media, or anything covered by UK GDPR, EU GDPR, HIPAA or CCPA.
Available free in the United Kingdom, United States, Ireland, Canada, Australia and across the EU. Because files are processed in your own browser and never uploaded, no personal data crosses a border, which keeps use consistent with UK GDPR, EU GDPR and CCPA/CPRA expectations.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Every tool runs in your browser using WebAssembly and the browser’s own APIs. There is no upload endpoint. You can verify this yourself by opening your browser’s Network tab while processing a file, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads — the tools keep working.
Is it really free, and is there a file size limit?
Yes, free with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily quota. There is no server-side size cap because there is no server; the practical limit is your device’s available memory. Large video files are the main case where an older phone may run out of memory.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in a normal browser tab on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari are all supported.
Can I use these tools for confidential or GDPR-regulated documents?
Yes. Because no file data is transmitted, there is no processor relationship and no international data transfer to assess. This is the main reason people in the UK and EU use browser-based tools instead of upload-based converters.
